2017 may be over in a few days but we will never forget these 6 acts who made their way to our hearts and ribs through social media.

Child actor turned Instagram comic sensation, Williams Uchemba, became an overnight Instagram star this year when his very funny videos surfaced where he adopts several characters and gets people laughing. He even recently showed off his philanthropic side by distributing money to people on the street. He’s also a UN youth ambassador and does his best to pass on positive messages.

Lasisi went viral when he started using the “full lipped” snap-chat filter to record videos of himself ranting and complaining about ills in society and things that everyone can relate to. Borrowing words from his Instagram bio if none of his rants makes you smile or smirk, then his rants are not for you and he’s sorry. He’s become so good, brands contact him to create awareness for their products, do giveaways and people even send their own complaints to him to rant about.

Handle: @TenieEntertainer

Signature: I’m still a farrgin o/ Teni Makanaki

Teni is a singer, songwriter, comedienne and baby sister of Afro House Queen Niniola. She rose to fame this year when her song fargin surfaced and spread across social media. She had done several Instagram freestyles and we can officially tell you her voice is sweet and melodious. Random fact: She wrote Davido’s last single for 2017- “Like That”.

Handle: @DavidJonesdavid
Signature: Na Igbo and codeine make Akin go gaga
David Jones David or DJD for short is an actor, musician and producer who became famous for his “say no to drugs” viral video where he turned the Lion King soundtrack to pidgin and infused it with his own words with the aim of preaching against the ills of doing drugs. Donjazzy and the Mavin crew even picked it up and re-did it, adding their own Mavin “swag” to it. He also kicked off an Instagram challenge and currently now has a video to support the funny yet intelligent song. He has other interesting pidgin mashup covers of popular songs on his Instagram.

Handle: MichaelDapaah_

Signature: Man’s not hot

Man’s may not be hot, but comedian and rapper Michael Dapaah has proven to the whole world that he is indeed hot. With his official video to his fire in the booth freestyle out, Michael has 124million views on Youtube and the video is just one month old. Loved for the straight-faced creative way he delivered his rather hilarious lines, Michael Dappah may otherwise be the most international and the biggest success story on this list. he even got a signing from a top record label out of his social media fame.

Handle: errr check @bobrisky222 or @mcgalaxymcg

Signature: Jacurrrrrrb

Well originally spelt “Jacob”, he’s Nigeria’s first celebrity gateman. No longer Bobrisky’s gateman, Jaycurb rose to fame when his boss Bobrisky kept featuring him in all his social media especially Snapchat. Jaycurb made a lot of cameo appearances and even danced in some videos. Recently, he was in the middle of a scandal that involved Mc Galaxy and Bobrisky, where Bob accused them both of trying to swindle him although it would seem the case has been resolved. He made so much buzz this year on social media, we just had to add him.
