Banky W released a project on Thursday (June 1st) dedicated to his fiancée Adesua. The couple captured the hearts of Nigerians as Banky shared his heartwarming proposal. I, like many, was intrigued to see what the singer had in store for us musically and seeing features like Maleek Berry and Nonso Amadi only heightened my expectations.

As a whole, the album is very cohesive. There is a clear theme of romance and commitment and it is clear to see that Banky dedicated this album to a woman that he truly loves. “Running After You” (featuring Nonso Amadi) is a perfect combination of both of them as vocalists and “Heaven” (SuSu’s Song) has some of the most beautiful and thoughtful lyrics I’ve heard in a long while. However, the stand out song on the album is definitely “All I Want is You” featuring the amazing Chidinma. She is an absolute powerhouse and the production of the song is excellent. The production on Better For You is great as well.
Though I did enjoy many of the songs on the project, I can’t help but feel that some of the tracks are dated and a bit stale. “Kololo” and “All for You” sound like so many other songs… from 2009. While there are elements of Banky that we know and love, (his soulful lyrics and beautiful beats) some of the songs on the album came across as a little generic and didn’t stand out.
All in all, this collection of songs is beautifully written and a clear reflection of Banky’s true feelings. While some of the songs were forgettable, there are some stand out ballads to add to Banky’s growing list of hits.
