Vibe NG debuted in grand style, it’s first of a kind session themed – Community Meeting with the Chief: Evaluating Singles vs Albums in a Digital Era; with prolific and Suave Nigerian American Entertainer, Jidenna as guest host and Chief panelist.
The star-studded event which held at the prestigious Didi Private Museum, was aimed at dissecting facts, challenges and solutions around the commercial rivalry between singles and albums.
The 2-part program kicked off with a brief interactive review session of Jidenna’s recently released album The Chief after which the carefully selected 6-man panel carried on an intellectual discourse; trading ideas and entertaining questions that revolved around the pros and cons of an album vs single market.
Meet the Moderator and other Panelists:
Folu Storms who is also nicked as the smooth operator, is a lawyer cum entertainment media force who triples as OAP, VJ and columnist. She was the moderator of the forum as she kept the discussion flowing amongst the panelists and the community members.
Godwin Tom is a serial artiste management guru who also runs an initiative called IManageAfrica. He spoke from his experience as one time manager of Mi and Wizkid and currently, Waje, Wande, Yung6ix and a couple more.
Douglas Jekan is a renowned On Air Personality, entertainment entrepreneur and music enthusiast. He shared opinions and views garnered from his years of being on radio airwaves and patterns noticed through release cycles in said niche.
GM, Sony Music West Africa, Michael Ugwu is an entertainment entrepreneur and digital music business genius. His angle to the session was hinged on the various methods and strategies employed by album hungry international labels to thrive in the singles dominated African market.
Omalicha is a well seasoned broadcaster and all-round media bigwig. She joined the conversation from the perspective of radio marketing, target audience demand and listenership as observed over the years as a media personality.
Also in attendance of the event were singer and songwriter-Waje, entertainment stakeholder and CEO Aboriginal records-Ikhane Akhigbe,fashion and style entrepreneur-Mai Atafo, amongst many others. The Creative Arts department of Unilag was duly represented by some of its finest students, who in the course of the event, presented Jidenna with a digital manipulation art portrait of himself..

The event which kicked of from 11am – 2pm also entertained guests with refreshment and some time to meet and greet Jidenna. The forum eventually wound down with many looking forward to the next session.
