Raise your hands if you’re a die-hard fan of chicken burgers. When burgers are mentioned what pops into the mind of the average Nigerian is a complex ‘oyinbo’ food that’s either expensive to buy or too hard to make. Everything mentioned apart from ‘oyinbo’ is a lie. You can whip up yourself a chicken burger in less than 30 minutes if you simply follow the directions below.
4 seeded burger buns (not necessarily seeded)
Margarine of choice 30ml
2 tomatoes, sliced 120g
1 onion sliced 120g
4 Lettuce leaves
2 chicken breast fillets, sliced in half 400g
Breading: flour 250ml
Ground paprika 10ml
Knorr chicken stock cubes, crumbled 16g
Cayenne pepper 2,5ml
Oil 30g 30ml
Sauce: Tomato sauce 75ml
beef cubes 8g
Ground paprika 5ml
1. In a bowl, mix the breading ingredients together
2.Dip the chicken pieces in egg, then in the breading and fry until golden and done – set aside
3. In a bowl, mix the tomato sauce, paprika and crumbled cubes.
4. Butter the bread rolls, place some onion and tomato on the bun, top with a chicken breast fillet, then some of the tomato sauce mix, and a lettuce leaf.
5. Serve with chips.
