Cipria Milano Makeup Line hits Nigeria: Now, we can all slay on a budget!

My head was buried deep in my laptop, when the Sales and Marketing representative for Cipria Milano in Nigeria was giving her presentation on why Cipria products were a necessity for every girl’s makeup kit ( or interested boy as it were and no, you did not hear me say Bobrisky).

I was really multi-tasking (typing some story or email while listening to her of course) until I heard her categorically rate the products way higher than some of the names that have globally dominated the beauty and cosmetics industry for eons. I legit abandoned my work to look up at this lady, wondering what about this “Cipria” gave her this inexplicable boldness. Well, after some research (and a complete makeover trial of course?), I can conveniently say that I was quite sold.

This is not my real face o… Face beat courtesy of Cipria Nigeria ?

Originating from the Italian fashion capital -Milan, Cipria Milano is the brainchild of Christian Ross, who has been in the business of Cosmetics and Makeup production for a number of decades and counting.

The products range from powders to liners, foundations, lipsticks, stains and glosses, shadows, mascaras, blushers, bronzers, polishes and every other cosmetic and makeup item that is essential to urban elegance. The beauty brand which describes itself as the “revolutionary concept in the cosmetic universe’, is no new name in the European and American regions but it recently commenced its African expansion with South Africa as it’s starting point.

Seasoned legal practitioner, business development guru and beauty/wellness enthusiast –Cynthia Lareine, doubles as the executive catalyst responsible for Cipria’s touch down in Nigeria. Currently the Sub-Sahara African head for Cipria Milano, she answered some vital questions in this short but straight-to-the-point interview, that threw massive perspective on Cipria Milano‘s mission to be the foremost make up brand for the 21st century Nigerian lady.

Cynthia Lareine (Sub-Sahara African Head, Cipria Milano)
Vibe: What is Cipria’s objective for expanding to Nigeria?
Cynthia Lareine: ‘As an established international brand, Cipria Milano is always keen to conquer new markets. Africa is key to Cipria’s future strategic growth. Cipria initially launched in South Africa 3 years ago and currently has 3 standalone stores in Johannesburg & Cape Town. It is well reported that beauty and skin care products are the fastest selling items in Africa after food and that Nigeria’s beauty care industry is one of the most significant in Africa. It therefore stands to reason that Cipria’s focus should now turns to establishing its presence in this important and exciting market. ‘
Where do CIPRIA products stand in terms of quality?
‘Cipria products are made in Italy by a team who have worked on beauty products for almost 4 decades. The product range is very broad and includes make-up, skin care, cosmetics, hair treatment and fragrances. Our product quality is second to none. We use carefully selected ingredients in all our products. Our make-up range uses
densely packed high-pigment mineral formulas which results in our products being long wearing with incredibly impressive staying power. Even our brand and packaging exudes class and simplicity.’

‘We are unique because we are Made in Milan, Made for Nigeria and Made with Love…’

What is your take on the state of the African beauty market and what does CIPRIA intend to do differently?
‘The African beauty market has huge potential hence so many international brands seeking to enter the space. It’s an exciting time to be able to launch an international make up brand in Africa and particularly in a vibrant and growing beauty market like Nigeria. On the international stage Cipria is on a par with Kiko as retail concept and with MAC as a brand.
However it is a much more affordable brand. Consequently Cipria’s USP is that we deliver high quality that is not synonymous with expense.  From the young and trendy to the more mature and established, Cipria’s products have mass appeal. The exciting part of the Cipria offering is that we are able to offer the international quality of international make up brands at a price point that competes even with locally developed brands so that our consumers get the best of both worlds. Furthermore, all our ingredients are cruelty free, paraben free, vegan and organic. There are very few make up brands that can boast of these factors. We are unique because we are Made in Milan, Made for Nigeria and Made with Love. We invite all Nigerian beauty lovers to join the Cipria revolution.’
Well, there you have it… A beauty range that bridges the gap between high end quality and affordability. Coming at a time when the economy is break dancing and the pressure to slay is on the rise, Lord knows Cipria Nigeria is a very very welcome development and I know I speak for quite a number of Naija sistehs.
