For those of you struggling with acne, blackheads, whiteheads, and other skin problems, here are a few tips to get that face glow and make heads turn.
Always take off your makeup before going to bed: This tip is very important. After the hustle and stress of the day sometimes you get home stressed and that tiny feeling in your head is saying sleep off. Trust me I know that feeling, but do not heed it. Instead, wipe off your makeup with a moisturizing makeup remover- or you could substitute with coconut oil. Apply the coconut oil on a cotton pad and wipe clean. Take a shower too; this will help relax your muscles and you will also sleep better.
Sunscreen: This should be part of your beauty regimen every day, apply sunscreen with at least SPF15/SPF 30 when heading out, this blocks both UVA and UVB rays. Exposure to the sun can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems so always make sure you protect your skin from the sun.
What you eat: Note that you are what you eat, so add fruits and veggies to your diet. Reduce your sugar intake, make sure your meals are rich in proteins and vitamins like vitamin c- which can be found in oranges, strawberries, broccoli, spinach, etc. Vitamin E protects against sun damage and it can be found in almonds, hazelnuts, etc. Vitamin K is also important as it aides the body’s process of blood clotting, which helps the body to heal-bruises, wounds, scars, stretch marks, dark spots and dark circles under your eyes. It can be found in kale, cabbage, green beans, lettuce, etc.
Exercise: This can’t be overemphasized; you don’t necessarily have to do rigorous exercises, just pick a routine you can work with every day and follow up.
Hydrate: Water! Helps with everything, I mean clean water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Avoid sodas and carbonated drinks. Don’t skip your skincare routine before and after your workout and use a toner to minimize oil production. Use facial scrub and moisturize with olive oil or shea butter after a workout.
Beauty sleep: You need your beauty sleep. Try to sleep for at least 8 hours every night. Failure to get minimum of 8 hours sleep can lead to sagging and eye bags. And trust me, you don’t want your eyes looking worn and aged due to insufficient sleep.
Exfoliate and moisturize: Exfoliate at least 3 times a week to remove dead cells, back heads and whiteheads. You can also use dead sea mud mask for deep cleaning.
