Nicki Minaj says she’s calling it quits. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, X in the box— cuz aint nobody checkin me.” she tweeted on Thursday afternoon. It’s a jarring announcement from the prolific rapper, one that contradicts her her latest episode of her Beats 1 show Queen Radio, during which she teased a new project with a “dope” executive producer attached to it.
She’s willing to withdraw from the music industry not as being defeated by her rivals but for her own personal space. Nicki indeed is a Queen retired or not. We didn’t see this coming as she recently spoke on Queen Radio and didn’t give any clue or idea of retiring soon.
It’s been a busy summer for Nicki Minaj. She recently guested on tracks from Megan Thee Stallion and Pop Smoke. Earlier this summer, she dropped “MEGATRON,” her first single since releasing her fourth album Queen. Ahead of that LP, Minaj went on an extended social media hiatus, prompting her fans to launch a website counting up the days since she posted on Twitter and Instagram.
