While I consider podcasts in Nigeria the virgin and untapped social media resource, it seems to be up and coming and a lot of Nigerians are beginning to embrace it and digest a few of the goodies podcasts have to offer. Critics would conclude that the reason why podcasts aren’t all that big in Nigeria is because of the slow and expensive internet services in Nigeria. Sadly, I agree to this.
That being said, If you don’t listen to podcasts and you want to start I recommend you bless your ears and brains with these 5 Nigerian podcasts.
1. LOOSE TALK PODCAST:
Owned by pulse.ng, this podcast talks about the Nigerian music and entertainment industry and if one is in the diaspora and wants to keep up with what’s happening in Nigeria then this should be their go-to podcast.
2. VIBE CONFESSIONS:
Owned by vibe.ng, this interesting podcast reads out the gory confessions of its readers who talk about their relationship issues and the host and his guests give their candid opinions and advice to the listeners. If you’re a relationship, love and sex fanatic then this should be your go-to podcast.
3. WJGB PODCAST:
WJBG means We Just Got Back, the podcast is hosted by three Nigerian girls who were based abroad for a while and just got back to Nigeria. They talk about their experiences abroad and compare it to their experiences in Nigeria. This is an awesome podcast for those who are in the mood for a laugh.
4. NIGERIAN AMERICAN PODCAST:
Hosted by Eldee the don, he talks about everything that can and will help Nigerians become smarter. This podcast is the most educative podcast on this list and it shows us another side of Eldee which a lot of people didn’t know existed. Numbers wise this podcast is the biggest in Nigeria, at least on sound cloud.
5. SUBMARINE AND A ROACH PODCAST:
Very similar to WJGB but the plot twist is that instead of girls it three guys who just got back. They talk about their lives, things that Nigerian youths can relate to and they even talk about the ills of Nigeria in general. It’s a very chilled podcast I recommend guys should tune into.
