It is always a great delight to see genuine collaborations between the music and film sects of the entertainment industry and this is one of the many things that will fascinate you when you eventually see the much-talked about Banana Island Ghost movie (out in cinemas now by the way).

The choice and the manner in which music was used to accentuate actions and provoke emotions definitely gives an overall refreshing aura to the film.

Without giving too much away, here are 4 songs that you are likely to encounter- some you might recognize, and some you should pay deep attention to.

  • Blessing- Chigul Featuring Phyno and Mayorkun: Blessing is the official soundtrack of the movie and it has B.I.G’s lead act Chigul, as the lead singer too. In this one, she sings of accomplishment, fulfillment and the timeliness of God’s blessings.  Produced by the prolific E-Kelly, this deep high-life groove features eastern rap beast – Phyno and DMW gunner, Mayorkun. The video was shot by Mexmania and  powered by entertainment giant and BIG partner, Freeme Digital.

  • Big Boy- Eldee Tha Don: It is only right that a movie with its acronym as B.I.G. uses a song titled Big boy as one of its soundtracks lol. Besides the BIG similarity, Eldee’s 2008 was aptly used to depict an exquisite and luxurious ambience in one of the scenes of the movie.

  • Empty by Cobhams (as performed by Chigul): By my standards, a song used in a movie reaches its peak of success if I leave the cinema looking to add it to my music library. I had heard Empty before but when I saw Chigul perform it in the movie, it didn’t only make me bawl at the premiere but I left beating myself up for having not paid more attention to the song. The track does itself all justice by helping the movie reach its perfect catharsis (at least for me)

  • This will sound strange but I do not know the title of this 4th song on my list. I heard it on the trailer but I don’t quite remember if I heard it in the movie. It starts around the 38th second of the trailer and there’s something quite unique about this little snippet that makes me super curious to hear the whole song. I guess I’d have to go see the movie again to find out. Trust me, you should too.
