10 Shaku Shaku Songs We Grooved To In 2018

Most people might not know this but it’s alleged that the Shaku Shaku dance was born in the streets of Agege Lagos and it’s made its way across Nigeria and even Africa as a whole. It’s a very vibrant and infectious dance that’s hard to ignore and it’s safe to say almost every able-bodied Nigerian youth has attempted to dance Shaku Shaku at least once in 2018.

Almost all the Musicians in Nigeria jumped on the Shaku Shaku wave and even the Alte kids weren’t left out with Wavy doing a track and she literally called it Shaku Shaku. While a lot of the songs sounded monotonous and alike a few stood out and rocked the waves of Nigeria and Africa as a whole. Some even travelled out and rocked the waves of USA and UK, below are the top 10 Shaku Shaku songs that we all grooved to in 2018.

1. Naira Marley, Falz, Olamide, Simi, Lil Kesh and Slimcase – Naija IssaGoal (Remix)

This song was so sweet Coca-Cola had to make it their official song for the world cup. It was the anthem on the streets and it’s safe to say this was Naira Marley’s biggest track of 2018.

2. Mr Real – Legbegbe

This was one of the first songs that introduced the general Nigerian populace to the Shaku Shaku trend, it was so big that it was added to the NBA game playlist. This track was the track that arguably pushed Mr Real to the limelight.

3. DJ Sidez – ‘Oshozondi’ ft Slimcase, Masta T

Oshozondi (Ballers) features Nigerian music act SlimCase and label mate Masta T also known as “Apari Producer.” They all come through with a jam.


This music video had the highest views on youtube and the rhythm was quite mellow. Not your typical fast-paced Shaku Shaku song, Soco was a hit which is still popping.

5. Jowana – Loco ft. Slimcase, Mr Real

This particular one was big in the east with Miss Jowana featuring the two biggest Shaku Shaku artistes Slimcase and Mr Real featuring on it.

6. Danny S – Ege

Arguably one of the biggest jams in 2018, New cat Danny S made a mark in the music scene with this jam and the video that accompanied was mint.

7. D’banj – Issa Banger ft. Slimcase, Mr Real

D’banj kick starts 2018 with a spanking new street-tailored tune entitled ‘Issa Banger’. He teams up with Slimcase and Mr Real of the “Legbegbe” fame to churn out this one specially made for the street to vibe to.

8. Idowest feat. Slimcase – Shepeteri

From being big in the streets it upgraded and became a nationwide anthem leaving the phrase ‘Omo Shepeteri’ on the lips of everyone.

9. Olamide – Science Student

Even though the song was banned for a while, Olamide redeemed himself with the video which had a bit of the thriller feel to it, the video had a ‘Say No To Drugs’ plot and the dance number which followed was comical too.
