It’s been over eight months since the hugely successful rom-com movie, The Wedding Party, hit cinemas nationwide. Since then, the anticipation of a movie that can possibly raise the bar set by TWP (yes including Hollywood movies like Wonder Woman and Transformers: The Last Knight) has been at an all time low… Until The Wedding Party 2 was announced.
The Wedding Party will see all the major characters from the prequel reprise their roles, along with a few additions, like the ever-dramatic Patience Ozokwor and the ever-scheming and cunny Chiwetalu Agu.
Now that we have a little semblance of things, let’s dive a little deeper and see just how the additions to the sequel and the subplots from the prequel can make The Wedding Party 2 an even greater hit than the first.
1. From the set pictures released online, it has been confirmed that Dunni Coker (Adesua Etomi) will be pregnant (with twins, probably) and that can only mean one thing… Dozie (Banky W) finally got the cookie and will now have to wait a whole gruesome nine months and then some to get it again (If Dunni isn’t freaky enough to have preggaz sex, that is!)… Enter the sexy Rosie (Beverly Naya)! who will see this as the prime opportunity to get Dozie to possibly pull a Kevin Hart!
2. During the prequel, there were signs of Deardre (Daniella Down) falling in love with Nonso Onwuka – who will now be running his father’s company. So The Wedding Party 2 could possibly be about the journey of both characters falling in love and getting married at the end of the movie.
3. Having Patience Ozokwor and Sola Sobowale in the same movie is explosive enough or would have been if this were a movie set in old Nollywood, but expect some serious fire from Patience Ozokwor all the same. Little info is known about her role in the movie, but if there is one thing we have learnt over the years, ‘A lot of bad things happen to the characters in a movie Patience Ozokwor stars in.’
4. As if Patience’s addition wasn’t enough, imagine having Chiwetalu Agu also in the movie. Based on popular notions that we have seen over the years in his movies, we are expecting him to play the role of a wicked uncle who probably got pissed off for not getting invited to the wedding as an elder and brother of the bride/groom’s father and is out to have his revenge!
“The Wedding Party 2” is a collaboration between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Koga Studios and Inkblot Productions.
