#VibeQuickie: And All Of A Sudden, Nap Time

Sleep
Sleep

So it is the beginning of another week but it still feels like the weekend as Tuesday and Wednesday will be a public holiday. Let’s talk about something but first, let me tell you how my morning went…

I live on the mainland with my parents and work on the island, I have to wake up by 5.am every day so I can get to work on time but this morning was a struggle. My alarm went off and I grudgingly stopped it but didn’t want to get off the bed, I felt like I hadn’t had enough sleep, I wanted to call in sick so bad and just sleep my Monday away but that wasn’t happening.

To buttress the situation, there was no power supply, stupid NEPA. I managed somehow to get ready and was off. Getting to mile2, I took a bus heading to CMS and that was when the cool weather hit me, I found myself sleeping on the bus {never happened before}. Thinking about it when I got to work, I remembered the conversation I had with Effa {a friend} the week before, he told me of how tired he usually is after work and just want to get home and sleep the rest of the day away but he finds himself sleeping on the bus, then when he gets home, he feels much better and doesn’t need sleep anymore.

Talking to several other people about this and hearing them agree to it being true {their experiences}, I have come to the conclusion that there is something those stolen minutes of sleep does to you. It’s like you’re revived or something. You could be completely exhausted at work or on the road, then you close your eyes for a short while and you are fine, you could literally go on for hours after that and not get tired.

I don’t what to call it but it is refreshing. I don’t know if this happens everywhere but in Lagos, you find a lot of people sleeping on the bus. I used to judge them, but not anymore. Now I understand how needed those stolen minutes sleep is.

If you’ve been in this situation before, it would be nice to hear your experience. Tell me about it in the comment box below…
