Top Movies To Anticipate For The Rest Of the Year 2018


So far, the year has started with thrilling movies coming from Hollywood: Black Panther, Acrimony, Avengers Infinity, and  Star Wars, while in Nollywood The Ghost And The Tout, New Money, Divorced Not Allowed, have excited viewers and made brisk box office sales.

As we are still in the first quarter of the year, these are some movies to anticipate for the rest of 2018:

From Nollywood:

Amina Queen of Zazzau

The movie follows the story of a Nigerian Princess, legendary vicious fighter traditionally known as Queen Amina of Zazzau (which is now Zaria) in North West Nigeria. The trailer shows an epic movie of battle and war, for the throne of Zazzau. No woman has emerged on the throne of Zazzau will Queen Amina conquer her enemies?

Directed by Izu Ojukwu who is known for the ‘76’ which starred Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic and others. The cast in Amina are; Clarion Chukwura, Lucy Ameh, Yakubu Mohammed and many others. No release date announced but let’s anticipate this epic movie.

From Hollywood:

Deadpool 2

This is the sequel to the original Deadpool movie which debuted in 2016 and was an amazing success grossing over $780 million worldwide. For the sequel, Marvel Comic Persona, Deadpool forms a team named X-force to protect a young mutant Russell from time travelling soldier Cable. If you liked the first one, you should not miss this one, and if you missed the first Deadpool movie, this is a good time to watch it online or on DVD to update yourself before the part two comes out.

Starring; Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, Morena Baccarin, Julian Dennison and a few others.

Directed by David Leitch and produced by Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds and Lauren Shuler Donn. Release date (May 18).

Ocean’s 8

This action, crime and comedy film is about a crew of ladies who team up to pull off the city’s biggest heist. It’s a movie based on the original Ocean’s 11 movies which give birth to the sequels Oceans 12 and Ocean’s 13. Now the film has been reformatted with women in the starring role.

Directed and written Gary Ross Starring; Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathway, Rihanna and others. Anticipate!!! (June 8).

Mission Impossible- Fallout

This is the latest instalment in the Mission Impossible franchise which has grossed over 2.7 billion dollars across 6 different sequels. In this episode, Ethan Hunt and his team try to prevent a global calamity in this action spy film.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Starring: Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Michelle Monaghan, Ving Rhames etc. Anticipate this thrilling movie. Release date (July 27).

Solo Star Wars

The film is centred on Han solo, a Persona from the star wars Franchise. Through a series of daring escapades, young Han Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian.

Directed by Ron Howard and produced by Lucasfilm. Starring:    Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton.


If you love horror movies, this one is for you, anticipate this nerve-racking and bone-chilling film, directed and written by Aris Aster. Starring; Toni Collette, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro, Ann Dowd, Gabriel Byrne. Release date (June 8).

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 
The film is a sequel to Jurassic World (2015) and is the fifth movie from the Jurassic Park film series. After the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park, the actors return to the island of Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that’s about to erupt.
Directed by: J. A. Bayona. Starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ted Levine
