American Tennis Champion ‘Serena Williams’ has been fined $17,000 by the US Tennis Association for three code violations at the US Open.
Serena Williams, beaten by Naomi Osaka, was docked a game for verbal abuse and had a point penalty for racquet smashing and a code violation for coaching.
She later said it was “s3xist” to have been penalised a game.
The fine is made up of $10,000 for the verbal abuse offence, $4,000 for coaching, and $3,000 for racket abuse.
This made Naomi become the first Japanese and first Haitian to win a grand slam title.
