Over the past year, locals have also fully embraced the latest cameras, drones, gaming consoles, and laptops on the market.  Now, with a new year looming, a host of new innovative gadgets are about to make their way onto the market, much to the delight of young and old. Here are some innovations that are bound to get techies excited in the coming here.

For the gamer

2019 promises to be a dream-come-true for VR fans with Facebook revealing their first VR kit, known as the Oculus Quest, destined for release during the course of the year. The system, which comes with headgear and Touch controllers, walks you through a number of virtual reality realms courtesy of more than 50 games and immersive experiences. Gamers can also look forward to a variety of highly anticipated game releases including Resident Evil 2 Remake, Metro Exodus, and Kingdom Hearts 3 which features characters from Big Hero 6, Monster Inc., and Toy Story.

For the photographer

If you are an avid photographer you will be blown away by the photographic-related gadgets set to hit the consumer market during 2019. Drones will once again be a popular choice amongst novice and professional photographers looking to capture the perfect aerial shot.  Smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Huawei P30, which are both set for release during the year, boast such phenomenal cameras that there is simply no need to carry around a bulky camera anymore.  Add a state-of-the-art selfie stick and some nifty photo editing software into the mix and anyone will be able to take photographs like a pro without having to invest in expensive equipment.

Other techs to look out for

Apart from gaming and photographic gadgets, tech-savvy Nigerians can also ready themselves for Qualcomm 8cx powered laptops, 5G powered devices, innovative fitness wearables, and a host of incredible smart home technologies. Not only will Amazon Alexa and Google Home revolutionize the smart home as we know it even more, but a number of smaller industry players are teasing with the release of countless innovative gadgets.  These gadgets include smart mirrors, showerheads, speakers, and home security devices that will be of great appeal to a very security-driven nation.
