Causes Of Back Acne

Having acne on your back and chest is a sign that your acne is more likely to be severe, If you are prone to acne especially back acne, just know that you’re not in this alone and a lot of people are experiencing this condition.

Acne doesn’t only occur on oily skin, but also on very dry skin. Hence, if you find that your skin is too dry, lay off the oil-controlling products and start hydrating your back with a lightweight moisturizer. The skin on the back, chest, shoulders, and upper arms is tougher than facial skin, and can generally tolerate more powerful treatments.

Body acne is caused by the same factors that trigger facial acne, namely overactive oil glands, excess dead skin cells. Listed below are some of the common causes of back acne.

1. Body Wash

This might be a major cause of your bacne breakout. If you’re battling an active breakout, avoid creamy body cleansers. Instead, look for one that’s infused with tea tree oil, which has disinfecting properties to speed up the healing process

In the same way the skin on your face produces more oil after it’s stripped of its natural oils, the skin on your body also reacts similarly, hence aggravating your acne.

Try to wear loose-fitting clothes to allow the skin to “breathe”.

3. Leaving your hair down: If you have a habit of resting your wet hair against your back after using leave-in conditioners and serums, stop now. Those products can clog the pores on your back, which leads to pimples.

4. Eliminating pressure on your back. If you carry a backpack or wear sports equipment, like shoulder pads, that places pressure on your back, try not wearing it for a while or, alternatively, wear a clean cotton T-shirt under it. Prolonged pressure and friction from these objects on your back can trigger certain types of back acne breakouts, called acne mechanica. People who drive a lot can be prone to back acne from the pressure of the seat on their backs.
