History has been made in the music industry as an 11-year-old female rapper, Alaya High, just became the youngest female rapper to sign with a major record label.
On Wednesday (August 1), Lay Lay announced the news on Instagram and shared the news that she had signed a contract with Empire.
“It’s official!!! I am the YOUNGEST FEMALE RAP ARTIST to sign a record deal,” the caption read. “Look out for my first single ‘Go Lay Lay Go’ ALBUM ON THE WAY!!!”
Lay Lay, who has amassed over 229,000 Instagram followers (and counting), first started garnering attention in May when her freestyle over BlocBoy JB’s “Shoot” went viral on Twitter. She posts a new freestyle almost every Friday during what she calls “Freestyle Friday.”
